Mining projects are unique. In addition to usually being in remote and inhospitable regions, they also have a definite beginning and an end – a lifecycle that can span many years from initial exploration and discovery through feasibility studies, construction, operations and closure. The construction and development phase of mining projects is a particularly complex period. This course focuses on this phase with its many interdependencies, multiple stakeholders and challenging tasks to manage.

- Understand the interplay and interdependence of a project’s scope, budget, and schedule.
- Explain how engineering and scope are refined and detailed as projects progress from studies through to construction and development
- Understand how project costs, schedules and risks are estimated, controlled, managed and reported
- Realize the many aspects of project implementation through to commissioning and start-up of operations
- Appreciate the many critical enablers to support construction and development of a mine including procurement, contracts, logistics, supply chains and the value of people

Course Delivery: Fully online and self-paced access to online modules for 10 months from course access date.
Credential Received: Upon course completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering.
➲ Course Access: Students in the professional development pathway will only have access to the online modules for a period 10 months to complete at their own pace. If students do not finish the course within 10 months, they will lose access to the online course and will NOT receive any grade, credit, certificate or letter of completion.
